Ohio State Highway Patrol To Focus On Seat Belt Checks

With the annual "Click It or Ticket" seat belt safety campaign scheduled to begin today, Ohio State Highway Patrol will be focusing on seat belt checks for the remainder of the month, with the Patrol encouraging motorists to wear safety belts. The week long project is a nationwide initiative that was created by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and has been adopted by many states across the country. Ohio is part of the 6-State Trooper Project, which also includes Kentucky State Police, Indiana State Police, Michigan State Police, West Virginia State Police and Pennsylvania State Police. In a statement from Ohio State Highway Patrol superintendent Colonel Paul A. Pride:

Too many drivers and passengers are not wearing their safety belts, and it all too often ends in tragedy.... it doesn't matter which state you're driving in I want you to get home safely.
