Seven Injured In Semi-Truck Accident In Licking County

Seven people, including two children, were injured in a truck accident involving a minivan and two semis in Licking County on Monday night. According to local police, Rodney Williams was driving a tractor trailer on west I-70 when he struck the rear of a Chrysler Town & Country minivan being driven by Terri Shinas. The minivan was pushed into the rear of another tractor trailer being driven by Dale Dieters. Williams truck veered off the right side of the roadway, struck a tree and overturned. There were six people in the minivan including two children and two teenagers; all four kids were taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Terri and Athanasius Shinas along with one of the truck drivers were taken to a local hospital as well. All drivers and occupants were restrained at the time of the accident. Police are still investigating the crash as the cause of the incident is unknown. More than 9,000 semi-trailer accidents were reported in Ohio in 2013, nearly 20 percent of these accidents led to serious injuries.
