Zumba has quickly become on the most popular types of fitness classes in the world, more than 12 million people participate in Zumba each week. Unfortunately, inexperienced fitness enthusiasts and the swift movements in the fitness classes can, and have, led to serious injuries. If you or someone you love has been injured due to the carelessness of another person or company, you may be entitled to file a personal injury claim. According to Consumer Reports, the number of Zumba injuries reported have been on the rise across the country. Orthopedic surgeons have stated that they are getting visits from patients each week who have at least one Zumba-related injury. Zumba calls for many motions that demand the use of the hips, knees, feet and ankles to move in unison. It's easy for participants to get caught up and overexert themselves without noticing. Additionally, many individuals who have not exercised before gravitate to Zumba as it looks easy. Unfortunately, failing to learn how to properly lunge or squat can increase the risk of injury. Some of the most common types of Zumba injuries reported include:
- ACL tears
- Bursitis
- Lumbar strains
- Shin splints
- Tendonitis
- Plantar fasciitis
