NHTSA Launches Investigation Into Possible Honda Accord Airbag Defect

In a recent statement, it has been confirmed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that an investigation has been opened that may affect more than 363,000 Honda Accord sedans. At the law offices of O'Connor, Acciani and Levy, we urge all Honda owners to use caution while operating their vehicles and in the event of an unexpected airbag deployment, to contact our team of auto accident lawyers today. After having received more than 28 complaints and reports of two alleged injuries caused by the unexpected deployment of side airbags in the 2008 model year Honda Accord, the decision was made to investigate the cause of the concerns and begin an internal review of the information that is currently available. Initial reports have advised that the side airbags of some vehicles have deployed when the passenger or driver side door was closed. According to Edmunds, Chris Martina spokesman for Honda commented:

"Honda is aware that the NHTSA has initiated a preliminary evaluation based on a small number of complaints regarding the side airbags and side curtain airbags on certain 2008 Accord models....Honda will cooperate with the NHTSA through the investigation process, and will continue our own internal review of the available information."
