James Allen, 24, died at the scene of a crash at Noe-Bixby Road and York Lane North around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday Dec. 21. Allens northbound vehicle crossed the center line and struck a southbound SUV being driven by Amparo Ribovich. Allens vehicle caught fire while he was still trapped inside. Police believe that Allen lost control of his vehicle, but are investigating what else may have contributed to the accident. Ribovich was taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center where she was listed in stable condition. Allen was the 53rd traffic fatality to be reported in Columbus this year, which is a 40 percent increase when compared to the number of fatalities reported in Columbus last year.
